"To reveal the Triune God to all people and nurture them in a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Because Jesus has commanded, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost,” St. Paul Lutheran Church and School exists for the purpose of
  • Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Bringing children and families into the Christian faith and fellowship of the Church
  • Nurturing the Christian faith in the families of the Church
  • Providing a quality of Christian education

St. Paul Lutheran Church and School began with only seven communicant members in 1940 when it was formally organized and joined the Missouri Synod. The congregation met in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and by 1942 grew to 110 communicant members.

On January 5, 1942, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ogden, Utah, was formally established. The first building, located at 28th and Quincy in Ogden was dedicated on July 11, 1943. St. Paul Lutheran School was opened in 1945 with classes in the church basement.

As the communicant membership grew to over 200 by 1956, the congregation purchased property at 33rd and Harrison, the site of today's church facilities.

The "Old Red Barn" on the property was remodeled in 1959 and named "Luther Hall," the home for the day school.

After the property at 28th and Quincy was sold in 1961, ground was broken for the current church building, dedicated on March 24th, 1963. The communicant membership had grown to 542.

The school had an enrollment of 94 children by 1978 when a "St. Paul Educational Complex" started to become a reality. The school building was dedicated in September 1980.

The "Old Red Barn" was remodeled and became a preschool and day care facility in January 1987. Two large classrooms were added to this facility and it was dedicated in 1994 as the Behnken Christ Child Care Center.

As of January 1996, St. Paul Lutheran Church is home to 542 communicant members and 752 baptized members. Over 300 students are enrolled in the school.

The Lord has richly blessed St. Paul Lutheran Church and School with many Christian families dedicated to carrying out the mission of the church. We are indeed, "Sent Forth By God's Blessings!"

The abundant grace of our God has been evident since our church and school began. The 1995-1996 school year marks fifty years of Christian education at our Day School. Starting in a basement classroom, using picnic tables as desks, St. Paul Lutheran School has grown to over three hundred students.

Our congregation also provides Christian Day Care for almost 100 children at the Child Care Center. While parents work during the day, they are confident that their children are being taken care of in a Christian environment. What a Blessing God has given to the People of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School.

However, the story of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School does not end there. Yes, it's true that the Lord has blessed our past, but as we look to the future we see a cornucopia of blessings.
